Route Kas - Myra - Kas
Bus transfer from Dalaman airport to Kas Harbor. The captain and his crew will welcome you aboard with a drink or cocktail and introduce you to the boat. You will have dinner and spend the night in or near Kas Harbor. You can explore charming Kas, or for those of you who really want to be pampered, we can arrange a Hamam, which is a traditional Turkish bath. In the Hamam, you will get a total body scrub, a wonderful soap massage, ending with a 30 minute full body massage. When you are finished, you will feel like a newborn baby.
Around 9 o’clock we will “put to sea”. Next we set sail towards Simena, where we will see the impressive sunken city. Next we will visit the island of Kekova, where you can explore the ancient hill-top castle and buy great souvenirs for the people back home. Either climb to the ruined castle in Kaleköy or visit the Lycian cemetery in Simena. Enjoy swimming in the clear waters of the bay before dinner is served on board.
After breakfast and swimming, we set course towards Gökkaya Bay. On the way, we will make swimming stops at Pirate’s Cave where you can swim into the huge cave and at Coldwater bay, where you can swim in the fresh, cool spring water. Afterwards, we will continue to Gökkaya Bay where we will spend the night. In the evening you can choose to motorboat to Smugglers Inn, which is a unique, little bar on a secluded bay or you can lounge here with a cocktail, sit around the campfire or dance the night away. We will spend the night at Gökkaya Bay.
After breakfast, we will lift anchor and leave Gökkaya Bay. There is the opportunity to visit Andriake, the ancient port of Myra at Cayagzi. We board our bus and continue on to Arykanda, in our view a "Lycian Jewel.” It is described in travel books of the 18th and 19th century as resembling the Swiss Alps or as a "heavenly corner on the face of the world" set at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. We return to Demre Harbor for lunch. This afternoon we visit the Byzantine Church in Demre dedicated to St Nicholas, known throughout the world as Santa Claus. We will also visit Myra, the capital of Lycia at the time St Nicholas was Bishop of Myra. We will cruise along the beautiful coast to Karalos Bay, with its spectacular deep, blue water. Here you can sunbathe and swim or you can just sit in the shade on the after-deck until dinner is served. We can also help to organize several water sports. We will then moor in the beautiful bay of Üçagiz where we will eat dinner. You can take an evening dip in the water and then head off to bed or stay up and gaze at the stars.
Today is a good day for people who like to snorkel. We set course to Aquarium Bay and our sailor Musti will teach us how to snorkel and catch some fish. The fish will be BBQ’d on land- you probably have never eaten it this fresh! We will set course to Üçagiz, an authentic, Turkish village. You can find little shops with carpets, hand-knotted tablecloths and beautiful, silver jewelry. In several places you can smoke a water pipe filled with apple, cherry or melon tobacco. Or you can also choose to just take a walk through the beautiful countryside. We will visit Aperlai with it’s pretty Lycian Tombs. You will have the opportunity to visit the historical sites. After our afternoon tea we will sail to a nice bay near Aperlai where we will spend the night.
In the early morning while you are still sleeping, the captain will cruise to the idyllic town of Kas. In ancient times this town was better known as Antiphellos and it is one of the most picturesque fishing villages in this Lycian part of Turkey. After breakfast we can take a walk through the winding, cobblestone streets and peek into the little shops, bars and restaurants. You can shop hassle-free as Kas is very charming and the shopkeepers are not intrusive, which is in contrast to the large tourist areas. On Fridays we can go to the market where there will be numerous spices, clothes and jewelry on display. For the men we can also arrange a visit to the barber. There is the opportunity to visit Xanthos and Saklikent
Breakfast, followed by a trip along the coast in the direction of Kalkan, passing secluded bays and small islands along the way. There will be an opportunity to go swimming, snorkeling, fishing or to simply take some time to relax. Dinner on board.
Our lovely week together is coming to an end, but you still have more chances to dive into the refreshing water. After breakfast we say goodbye. Our transfer bus will take you to the airport or to your hotel.
At the start of your journey the captain will inform you about the travel route. We can never give you the exact timing of the route as this depends on the currents and the wind, so it is possible to arrive later or sooner in a certain place. Decisions about changing the route are always made by the captain.
