We board our bus and continue on to Arykanda, in our view a "Lycian Jewel", described in travellers books of the 18th and 19th century as resembling the Swiss Alps or as a "heavenly corner on the face of the world" set at an altitude of 650 mtrs above sea level. We return to Demre harbor for lunch. This afternoon we visit the Byzantine Church dedicated to St Nicholas, known throughout the world as Santa Claus, in Demre and visit Myra, the capital of Lycia at the time St Nicholas was Bishop of Myra. We will cruise along the beautiful coast to Karalos Bay, with spectacular deep, blue water. Here you can sunbathe and swim or you can just sit in the shade on the after-deck until dinner is served. We can also help to organize several water sports. Next we set sail towards Simena, where we will see the impressive sunken city. Next we will visit the island of Kekova where you can explore the ancient hill-top castle and buy great souvenirs for the people who stayed at home. In ancient times this town was better known as Antiphellos and it is one of the most picturesque fishing villages in this Lycian part of Turkey. After breakfast we can take a walk through the winding, cobblestone streets and peek into the little shops, bars and restaurants. You can shop hassle-free as Kas is very charming and the shopkeepers are not intrusive, which is in contrast to the large tourist areas. On Fridays we can go to the market where there will be numerous spices, clothes and jewellery on display. For the men we can also arrange a visit to the berber. There is the opportunity to visit Xanthos and Saklikent.
We set course to Butterfly Valley, until about twenty years ago, Butterfly Valley was a relatively unknown and untouched area. For thousands of years, its inhabitants were only the butterflies and local fauna. It is worth a visit, because there are species of colorful butterflies which are unique in the world. We will have breakfast at St.Nicholas Island. And will cruise to Samanlik Bay for swimming & lunch. We will visit Tarzan’s Bay and arrive in Fethiye harbor that evening or the next morning, depending on the time of your flight.
Our lovely week together is coming to an end, but you still have more chances to dive into the refreshing water. In the morning after breakfast we say goodbye. Our transfer bus will take you to the airport or to your hotel.
At the start of your journey the captain will inform you about the travel route. We can never give you the exact timing of the route as this depends on the currents and the wind, so it is possible to arrive later or sooner in a certain place. Decisions about changing the route are always made by the captain.
